10 Reasons I’m Excited It’s December 🎄

1
Yay! The thought of December gets me good and giddy with glee. I look forward to partying, eating, and generally goofing off. It’s the silly season and I’ll use that as any excuse for why I’m not my usual industrious self.
Even your boss won’t ask you why you’re late for work….(don’t try this at home, kids…)

I always go into NaBloPoMo in November with the best intentions.

I did it last year. I did it this year.
And now I’m glad it’s over so I can get on with my life.
Finding something to post everyday to my blog is a lot of work!

This is the next best thing to being pregnant, as far as food consumption goes.

Look, it’s winter, it’s cold, and I need to eat more so I can keep warm in this frigid weather.

Don’t judge me!!

4I hate to admit it, but it’s not winter without snow. I hate shoveling the thing and I hate driving in it. But seriously, I live in New England now and I’ve accepted that “December” means getting loads of the white stuff. Besides, playing in the snow gets my children out of the house and active for about 30 minutes without any fuss.

As soon as Thanksgiving is over, and all my guests have gone home, we get a Christmas tree and by the first weekend in December, it’s all set up in the living room.
This is probably the one event my family can do together peacefully without teenagers rolling their eyes and asking “are we done yet?” or “can I go now?”

6
I also look forward to the “Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

To watch with the kids, you know…yes, the kids…

Don’t judge me!!

7This could be my favorite part of December: the festive holiday music. I can whip out the Ray Conniff Singers Merry Christmas CD to sing the “12 Days of Christmas” with my son. He’s still young enough to appreciate it. “Ring Christmas Bells” from the same album is my personal favorite and I sing all the wrong lyrics.

Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas” and Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas” are songs I’ll play all year round if given the chance, and who can resist the Jackson’s “Give Love at Christmas”?

8They really are. And that’s a good thing. “Peace and Goodwill to all men” and all that stuff…

There is always a rush on at my office to take vacation days towards the end of the year. “Use it or lose it” emails go out to everyone so by the final week the office is like a ghost town.

Even if I’m not jetting away to a tropical island or hitting the slopes for a ski vacation, I love the fact that THIS IS MY FREE TIME!!

And the #1 reason I’m happy it’s December? It’s Christmas!!

  1. I read it. I said I like it. But anyone who does the NaNo-whatever crap is a pollutant. Ever read a novel by someone who wrote a novel in a month? If so – they should see a psychologist. Let’s put a stop to this idea which inflicts untold drivel on the world. Who ever thought up such nonsense should be lined up and shot. I sincerely congratulate you on not finishing the NaNoCrap-whatever. It’s the most anti-creative piece of nothing ever devised. It angers me that intelligent people should even consider giving it worthwhile. That’s why I’m finishing WordPress on Dec 31. It’s an unbelievable anti-creative process.
